About the Role
We are seeking a Backend Developer Intern interested in learning how scalable and secure web applications work behind the scenes.
You will explore API architecture, database management, server-side logic, performance optimization, and application security through guided technical assignments.
This internship is suitable for aspiring backend engineers who want to strengthen their fundamentals by working with realistic engineering problems.
Internship Details:
- Type: Unpaid educational internship (₹0 stipend)
- Location: Remote, India
- Duration: 8–12 weeks
- Commitment: Approximately 8–12 hours per week
- Experience: Freshers and entry-level candidates
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and testing backend APIs using Node.js and TypeScript. - Learn to design RESTful endpoints with proper validation and error handling. - Work with PostgreSQL database schemas, SQL queries, and relational data. - Support supervised backend improvements to posts, comments, reactions, and reporting workflows. - Write API tests and investigate server-side bugs. - Learn how rate limiting, caching, and request validation protect online platforms. - Understand privacy-preserving anonymous interaction systems. - Explore safe approaches to spam prevention and community moderation. - Assist with database query optimization in development environments. - Learn logging, monitoring, and debugging best practices. - Maintain technical documentation for APIs and backend functionality. - Participate in code reviews and secure development discussions.
Requirements
- Understanding of JavaScript or TypeScript. - Basic knowledge of Node.js. - Familiarity with REST APIs and HTTP methods. - Understanding of SQL and relational database fundamentals. - Basic knowledge of asynchronous programming. - Ability to understand JSON requests and responses. - Basic Git and GitHub experience. - Understanding of input validation and error handling. - Strong interest in problem-solving and backend engineering. - At least one backend API, database, or server-side academic/personal project. **Good to have:** PostgreSQL, Next.js server-side development, Redis, ORM tools, Docker, API testing, database indexing, and basic OWASP security concepts.
